Lightbox

Lucy Grant created a festival of shadow and light, art and animation for children and families, running throughout the school summer holidays in Helston.

Lightbox was a programme of free activities and world cinema for children and families that ran throughout the school holidays in summer 2018. Commissioned by CAST (Cornubian Arts & Science Trust) for Groundwork, Lightbox was created by artist Lucy Grant, of Heads & Hands Art Club, with the support of Kate Turner and Mae Voogd.

Tuesday Lightbox invited children to explore and play with shadow, light and animation in a specially constructed light box projection space at CAST in Helston. Participants explored Helston Museum in the mornings to make shadow puppets, props, miniature worlds and wind up theatres. In the afternoons they took their creations up the road to CAST and brought them to life.

These film recordings were made over three Tuesday afternoons and produced by Kate Turner.
