The painter Peter Doig will be in conversation with artist and curator Matthew Higgs, director of the influential alternative art space White Columns in New York.  Peter and Matthew have known each other since the early 1990s and they will talk about their shared histories – as artists, friends, and curators – through the agency of a selection of Peter Doig’s works made over the course of his three-decade career.

Peter Doig

Peter Doig is a contemporary Scottish artist, celebrated as one of the most important representational painters working today. His paintings are characterised by their equal focus on both landscapes and figures, melding art historical and personal references into painterly abstractions with distinctive compositions.

Matthew Higgs

Matthew Higgs is an English artist, curator, writer and publisher. Higgs trained and worked as an artist before also becoming known for his independent publishing and curatorial projects that raised the profile of emerging artists through the 1990s. He is currently Director of the influential alternative art space White Columns in New York.
